Q&A Tab

The Q&A tab is where you manage audience questions during a live event. Questions flow from left to right through the columns as you moderate them.

You can move items between columns by dragging, or by right-clicking a card (or clicking the vertical dots •••) to use the context menu.

As attendees submit questions via the Action Bar, they appear in the Incoming column in real time. If moderation is enabled, questions stay hidden from other attendees until you act on them.

For each incoming question, you can:

  • Drag to Preparing — stage it for later
  • Drag to Presenting — get it in front of the Presenter.
  • Drag to Rejected — dismiss it
  • Edit — modify the question text or author before showing it
  • Use the more menu (three dots) to move it to any column

The Q&A behavior depends on your Event Settings:

SettingBehavior
Moderation onQuestions stay in Incoming until you approve them. They’re hidden from the Activity Feed until moved to Preparing or Presenting.
Moderation offQuestions appear immediately in the Activity Feed and in Incoming. You can still curate them for the Display View.

Each question card shows:

  • Author name (or “Anonymous”)
  • Question text
  • Vote count — shown in the action header bar (if voting is enabled)
  • Comment count — shown in the action header bar if attendees have commented on this question
  • Timestamp — relative time (“5m ago”) or absolute (2:30 PM)

For full details on card controls, see Cards & Actions.

Remember: moving a question between columns doesn’t change what attendees see. The columns are an organizational tool for you. What controls attendee visibility is:

The one exception: the Presenter View shows items in the Presenting column as the current queue, so the speaker knows what’s coming.

  • Attendees are able to edit a Question unless it is “locked”. A Question is locked when it’s either in the Presenting or Used column, or in the Activity Feed. The Attendee won’t know if their Question is rejected or still in the incoming or preparing feeds.

From the Action Bar, click Export Q&A to download all questions as CSV or Markdown — useful for post-event reports, making a word cloud, or sharing with speakers.

  • Keep the Incoming column visible during the event so you don’t miss questions
  • Collapse the Rejected and Used columns to save space — you rarely need them during the live session
  • Edit question text if needed (fix typos, clarify phrasing) before going live
  • Use vote counts to identify the questions your audience cares about most
